Project description:
In 2011, Aragón Radio, CPEE Alborada and ARASAAC won the“VII Journalism Award for Integration”,awarded by the Recovery Center for People with Physical and/or Sensory Disabilities of Imserso in Salamanca, for the project “Subtitling of news with pictograms of ARASAAC” on the second channel of Aragón Radio ’.
This was a pioneering project that consisted of subtitling current news with the ARASAAC pictograms. This project was carried out with the collaboration of students and professionals from the Alborada Public School of Special Education, the Aragonese Center of Technologies for Education (and the Aragón Engineering Research Institute (I3A). For various reasons, the project could not have continuity, although you can continue to access many of the news produced by the students of the school through the newspaper library, although the format of the website does not correspond to the previous one.
In addition to the issue of accessibility in information and access to news, these two accessibility examples become a great measure in favor of sensitization and awareness to break down communication and accessibility barriers in the media.
